NY Times puts Pakistan crisis in special box up top

It's rare that the New York Times does this, so I wanted to note it: it pushed down the rest of the top news, including the "big photo box" (my term) to place a special box with info on the Pakistan crisis.

The Times has done this before, but I can't recall the subject of any of the "special box" stories. U.S. presidential elections, stuff like that.

And in this case - a state with the bomb, emergency rule imposed - I suppose it makes sense.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post simply puts the Pakistan story in the No. 1 spot, at the top of the column. Google News does the same thing. But the Times of India, next door to the state in crisis... puts Pakistan in the second spot.

(Update, after a second look: Apparently the biggest news of the day, according to the NY Times, is that "Fred Claus" is in theaters Nov. 9.)

Another update: after only a few hours, the Times took down the "special box."
