Draft U.S. civilians, or leave Iraq
Perhaps you've already read the Washington Post article wherein 12 former Army captains suggest we either (1.) start a draft to send enough troops to Iraq, or (2.) withdraw immediately.
If you tried to start conscription, you'd see U.S. troops leave Iraq before the draft ever got going. But the authors realize this. So the second idea is probably what they are ultimately suggesting.
That being said, I don't think we ever should have stopped the draft -- just substantially changed it to allow people to alternately work public service jobs other than in the military.
