Mennonites in Bolivia?
I've always been fascinated by the Amish, and growing up in Ohio I saw Amish families a number of times. Mennonites are similar, although I believe there are different degrees of "Mennoniteness," and some do not reject electricity.
Anyway, the NY Times has an interesting piece about Mennonite farming communities in Bolivia, and how land reform might strip them of their farms. The photo slide show is worth checking out.
They're of German descent, but many of them used to live in Mexico, so they still eat a corn tortilla-based diet.
Humans are pretty interesting.
Note: NY Times articles become pay-only after seven days. Sorry.

Merry Xmas!
And, yes, I grew up in Santa Cruz (Bolivia) and regularly saw Menonites in town. They make the best cheese in Bolivia. The best.

In fact Mennonites are living in more than 60 countries.
A fews months ago I spent two months living inside ten different Mennonite colonies in Bolivia in order to do a photographic work about this subject. I will never forget the experience.
