We get the media we deserve

Coverage (get it?) of Newsweek covers comes from Wonkette, if you haven't seen it yet. Maybe we're all tired of hearing about Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe we feel like France in 1954, or perhaps comparable to Great Britain in... the 20th century in general.
The U.S. short attention span wants some news other than combat deaths (or even combat good news), so that explains why Fox News, Nancy Grace, and all the rest go crazy for the latest "Missing White Person!" story.
While this blog generally avoids "personal" entries, perhaps this entry is inspired in part by the fact that a certain person now has cable in his apartment after being without for 10 years.
Cable TV news, I love you and I hate you. Mostly hate.
