SHOE WARS!

The EU started imposing tariffs today on shoe imports from China and Vietnam. They'll increase steadily over the next few months, possibly becoming a 20 percent tax in China's case.

The European Commission says the countries provide unfair subsidies. The UK opposes the tariffs, while shoemakers Italy and Portugal support them.
