46 percent of Americans have negative image of Islam
In case you missed the Washington Post, the number of Americans with a negative perception of Islam has increased since post-Sept. 11 days, according to a poll. Forty-six percent now, it seems.
I can't think of what has been in the news recently that might have affected public opinion, but I'm sure it'll come to me...

Yes, I realize it's a minority of folks who are the extremists; it always is. I don't think it's a clash of civilizations, but it doesn't seem to be a garden of roses, either.
It sure would be easier if we were all agnostics. Perhaps that's too rash, and might even make things worse. Was it Rodney King who said, "Can't we all just be politically secular moderates?"

I'm inclined to agree with you about agnosticism, but given the way people are we'd just find something else to hate each other over.
