A quick note on the BlackBerry 'crisis'

Just a bit of perspective on the BlackBerry thing: About 3 million Americans own Blackberries; that would be a big number in a European country, but it's about 1 percent of the population here. So most people will not be directly affected.

Of course, the people who do own them are usually pretty important - Congressional staffers, executives, just about anyone in "management." I had thought this made it a rather elite bit of technology, but even 1 percent of population can make up a pretty significant group - even when you're not considering they hold relatively prominent jobs.

I did a little googling and found out other groups which comprise 3 million Americans:

People suffering peanut and/or tree nut allergies
Arab Americans
Felons now out of prison - they can't vote
Truckers - keeping your stores stocked with goods
People who "could have Barrett's Esophagus," whatever that is
Citizens of India living in the U.S.
Jews
People who will suffer an anxiety or panic attack in their lifetime
Commuters who travel 50 miles or more one-way
Morbidly obese folks, um, according to Texasgrassfedbeef.com

Note: Most of the sites I listed these stats from seemed pretty biased. But it seemed interesting to me. This is how I party.
