Explosions in Iran

Iran is blaming Great Britain for several explosions in a southern province near Iraq, according to the Scotsman.

It certainly is possible the Brits are somewhat involved, just as the U.S. supported the Contras in Nicaragua or the Montagnards in the Vietnam War. And it's pretty likely Iran is supporting resistance in Iraq in a similar fashion. Syria too. However, it would be disastrous for the West to start heading down the path to a shooting war with Iran.

I've always said there's no way the United States would go to war with Iran. It would make the war in Iraq seem like Grenada '83, and our resources are already stretched thin. However, actions like this - if any Westerners were indeed involved - could bring about consequences that we seek to avoid.

A second Iran-Iraq war, with the U.S. military caught in the middle? No thanks.
